Celebrities
Working up at Sundance has given me a unique oppertunity to meet some "famous" people. At first it was a thrill, an absolute joy to meet them. I felt overwhelmed "in the presence of greatness". But as more and more come in, after 1200 pizza runs, after hissy fits about snow covered walkways, Ive come to realize that they are not all theyre made out to be. What do they really offer society. Nothing! For the most part they are a continuation of the High School popularity game on a much bigger level. They have no marketable skills or agenda for change. They are like waves of the ocean. When theyre comming we say, wow, thats big; and they are big for a while. Then they come rolling in in all theyre fury and fizzle out to nothingness. Remembered only by their deaths. And just like the wave we can be sure that another one will come rolling in and another after that.

A Good Girl
So over the past few weeks I have had the oppertunity t rekindle an old friendship. Its easy to see why this kid is my best friend. After months of no communication we picked up a little ahead of where we left off. We have both had struggles and triumphs that have forged character and paced our lives. One topic in particular is of strong mutual interest. This topic is eternal marriage. We have both reaped the fruits of the provo dating scene for quite sometime only to still feel empty. Date after date we meet talk and entertain, all in an effort to find "the one", but finding a mass of the same charicteristics in each girl. These characteristics generally include an overifatuation with self, a lack of life vision, emphasis placed on things which "moth and rust doth corrupt", and a semi hypicritical gospel practice that preaches obedience but misses application of the plain and precious parts. So my question is, Do good girls really exist? And if so, Where are they to be found? Ive looked everywhere. But finding one of the"good" ones is like andre the giant trying to put on a size 2 dress. Try all you like it just aint gonna happen. Please help out. Any commentary would be well apreciated. An to any girls reading this Im not saying your bad, I just havent dated you and if I have dated you, then yeah i am saying your bad.

Freedom in Form of Powder
At the top of the Mountain I might as well be at the top of the world. Its a feeling like no other. Its a seperation from society, from from social ties and even from who I am. For once Im free of every outside influence. The only things that determine my immediate future is the Cloud Cult played on my IPoD and the Virgin powder in front of me. One of the Greatest feelings I have ever experienced is dropping the face. In that one moment Im flying. I hover over the powder, I cut into it and leave my mark. Its beautiful

What Happened to the Rock Gods
Culture defines the generations that it confines. Music, art, and speech opens minds to new thoughts and perceptions on what could and ought to be. It shapes our futures. Through its impact our lives become richer as we push the limits of whats accepted or deemed as normal. With the dawning of the 50's the world was introduced to Buddy Holley as he beconned in a new age, that of Rock and roll. The music progressed throughout the decade and spread to the rest of the world. As the 60s came to be a British invation came, Bringing with it, most notably, the beatles, the Rolling Stones and Cream. Theses bands changes music and taught that music was more than just words on a page but feelings, raw emotion played out on an infinatly changable medium of the electric guitar. The late 70s saw Zepplin and Skynard. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers roared, but as of 1981 it all ended. What Happened to these stars, these Rock Gods if you will. Black Sabbath was the Last to fill stadiums with a couple of hits in the 80s. Throughout the 1960-1980 rein that this new rock had society changed. People lived by new rules. Why did that change. We have seen a recent rebirth with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, 311, the Urge and Incubus. But of late One hit pop wonders have dominated the air waves again. Why this change why the shift from pushing the Limits. Support Music that changes Ideas and conveys raw emotion. Its our best hope for progression.
